Thursday = Translations & Notarization

We had an appointment at 10:00 am with Alicia Boroto Carrasco, a charming lady, who was doing the translation of some of our documents for our residency.  She is located at the Centro Cultural Eduatoriano Norteamericano "Abraham Lincoln" School.  It is located at Borrero 5-18 y Honorato Vazquez in the Old City.

Ed & I arrived a few minutes early and was handed the complete set of documents that had been translated and also notarized.  We were thrilled not to have to go to the notary with her.  So, we paid our $100; $50 to the notary and $50 for the translation.  It was now only 10:15am and we thought we would heard directly to the Immigrations Office.  The office had very few people, so we were seen almost immediately.

The young girl went through all our papers and then had us fill out their form for application.  The list of documents we were submitting needed to be in Spanish.  When, we handed that back to her, she told us we needed a document translated and notarized.... what?  It was our Social Security Letter that had been signed, notarized, translated, notarized and approved by the Washington DC Ecuadorian Consul.  We had been told last week, when a different lady went through that same document that it was "perfect".  So, what happened in the last several days?  It's called a moving target and you try to hit it.

So, it was another taxi back into the Old City to the translator and showed her what we needed translated and notarized this time.  She said she could have it back to us tomorrow morning at 11:00am with notarization on it.... That school knows how to provide great service and with a friendly attitude.

Well, we were in the Old City and it was near noon, so we asked where to go to lunch.  Our translator suggested the California Kitchen about 1 1/2 blocks away.  We had heard a lot about this restaurant from many Expats.  The sun was out and we had to remove our light jackets on the walk and the temps were in the low 70's.

Lunch at the California Kitchen....

Both, Ed and I, ordered the triple decker grilled chicken club.  There must have been a half pound of chicken and a half pound of good bacon on each sandwich.  I removed all the bread and ate the chicken, some of the bacon and the avocado and a few fries.  I don't think I'll needed to eat until tomorrow when I meet a couple of the Expat ladies for lunch.

I just now received an email from our Realtor and she tought she could the handyman here this afternoon.  So, we are back to waiting....

Have a great day,
Peggy
